# Bingsu

> Bingsu is a free, open-source (GPL v3) screen recorder for Mac, Windows and Linux, made by BingsuStudio, for people and their AI agents. Recordings stay on the computer; transcripts, summaries and chapters are made on it; a recording becomes a static website the person publishes on their own host.

Key facts:
- Records a window (even when covered), an app, a display or an area, with Mac or app sound and up to 8 microphones, each on its own track.
- Writes files in 2-second pieces so a crash loses at most 2 seconds, and checks every file after saving.
- Never lowers frame rate or size to keep up; it records at the asked quality, converts after, waits, or says the Mac is busy.
- Faces: the camera and up to 4 people found in a call window (Zoom, Meet, Teams, FaceTime, Slack, Discord, Webex and WhatsApp) as bubbles you drag, resize and reshape, each voice on its own track. Agents can attach presenter clips, labelled "Presenter made with AI".
- Focus (zoom where clicks and typing happen, smoothed pointer) and Frame (background, padding, corners, shadow), applied at export and editable.
- Editor: trim, cut, crop, per-track levels, Balance and Clean voice, blur, 9:16 with the camera split; export as HEVC, H.264, ProRes, GIF or sound only; captions burned in or as VTT/SRT.
- Agents connect over MCP (17 tools) or the `bingsu` command. Several agents can record at once, each owning its own recordings; each asks the person once before it can record the screen.
- Share pages are folders of static files (HLS player, chapters, transcript), encrypted by default with the key in the link fragment, published to Cloudflare, Vercel, Netlify or GitHub Pages. BingsuStudio runs no server for recordings and never receives them.
- No account, no telemetry, no analytics in the app. Signed updates.
- Install on a Mac with Homebrew: `brew install --cask bingsu`.

## Connect an AI agent
- Bingsu is a local MCP server on the person's Mac: command `/Applications/Bingsu.app/Contents/Helpers/bingsu`, argument `mcp`.

- Verify with the bingsu_status tool; needs_approval means the person clicks Allow in Bingsu.
